Mr. Jose Elias Urena, Coordinator of the Hispanic Ministry of Hospitality

I have been a member of this parish since 1989. During those years I have
participated in various of the parish groups and ministries: Cursillo, Northern
Manhattan Vicariate, CCD catechist.

The best memory I have of my parish is the day of my wedding. It was celebrated
by Father Angel Garate, then there are the baptisms and first communions of our
grandchildren that followed.

Prayer: I hope that for our parish's 100th anniversary, the Incarnation will be
totally repaired.
Mrs.Dalida Checo, Asst. Religious Education coordinator

Dalida began her many years of service at Incarnation under Sister Teresa
Sheehan. She continues to serve in that office.

Mr. Pablo Checo, was born in Brujas, Dominican Republic. As a youth he served
as a catechist to the children. Since 1968 he has been a member of the Cursillos de
Cristiandad and has served as vocal of Incarnation. He has been Delegate of Section
5, and has served as President of the Cursillo Secretariate on two occasions.
He has also served as Rector of "Los Valientes de Cristo".

Prayer: Father, may our Parish of the Incarnation be what it has always been.
Do not permit that anything or anyone direct it against what it has been with its
hospitality towards all communities. When one visits other communities and says
that one is from Incarnation one is received with love and respect. O good Jesus,
help all parishioners of Incarnation to be examples of the living Christ. May the
peace and love of our older brother and the Virgen Mary our Mother be with us all.

be number one, that its light may never cease.
Mrs. Maria Abreu, Coordinator of the Hispanic Choirs of Incarnation

Mrs. Abreu has been a member of Incarnation Parish for 29 years.

The most important event for me was when Catholic New York chose my family as
an example of the Hispanic Community, for their feature article in 1993,
"What keeps us together".

Best wish: I wish continued respect, unity and the continued economic support
from all of us for our church, so that we may continue being open and our house of
worship.
Mr. Epifanio Polanco, Coordinator of Light and Life

I feel very grateful to our parish for the opportunity it has given me to serve as
leader of the program, Light and Life. Thank you to Msgr. La Paz for his support and
the opportunity to serve our community.

Prayer: I pray to the Lord and to the Father that we may celebrate our Centennial
full of peace and joy and that he send us priests.

as usher, EMHC, catechist, Renovacion, Cursillista, and has given talks for
baptism.

Best wish: Incarnation is the only church in which I have served with love and
joy and I hope that it may celebrate many more years!
Mrs. Favia Hernandez, Secretary of the Legion of Mary of Incarnation
Mrs. Hernandez has been a parishioner of Incarnation since 1977. She was married
Incarnation. Over the years she has served as director of the Renovacion, and as a
catechist.

I am very grateful to the Parish and all the priests that have passed through our
parish, because in the most difficult times of my life they have been there for me.

Prayer: I bless this Parish, our faith, the Blessed Sacrament, our community for its
support. I am yours in Christ and I love you.
Mrs. Margarita Taveras, Vocal Cursillos de Cristiandad
In 1982, during a retreat directed by the Cursillos de Cristiandad, I lived a
marvelous experience. I had a personal encounter with Christ. Ever since that
moment, I have dedicated every one of my years to serving the Lord through His
Church.
I have served at my home town parish in the Dominican Republic for nineteen
years in the Cursillos de Cristiandad Movement.

In 2001, I arrived in this country and immediately I united myself to this great
Parochial family of the Incarnation. The fraternity, human warmth and above all
the joy that emanates from each celebration is what motivates us to follow the
teachings of the Great Master. He has called me to serve during these six years as a
catechist, a Proclamator of the Word (Lector). Above all I try to give the best of
myself in the service of the Lord in the Cursillos de Cristiandad living each day the
life of grace through personal encounters with my brothers and sisters.

Prayer: The most sincere thanks to this great parish community and I ask the
Father Almighty that he may continue blessing us abundantly especially in these
100 years of service to the community.
"Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father
has placed his seal of approval."
John 6:27

I have been a member of the Parish of the Incarnation since 1997 when Msgr. Thomas
Leonard was the pastor. I have served as a Lector, commentator, and I was a member
of the parish choir. I also volunteered as a catechist and I was Coordinator of the
Religious Education program for fifteen years. I belong to the Cursillos de Cristiandad.

Best memory: I remember the days when I was a member of the Comite Catolico
Dominicano under the direction of Father Rafael Corniel. He worked arduously
preparing the liturgy and the celebration of the Mass in honor of Our Lady of
Altagracia, Patroness of the Dominican Republic.

I am now working with a beautiful group of girls, "Las Hijas de Maria".
Mrs. Carmen Valverde, Asst. Las Hijas de Maria

Prayer: My dear Jesus, I ask you that for the anniversary of our Parish of the
Incarnation, for it's 100 years of existence that you may protect and care for it as
you have always done. Take care of it in all sense. I also thank you for all the
blessings that I have received through her and I pray for our Pastor Msgr. La Paz
and for all of your priests. I pray for those priests that have left and those present
these are your sons, also for our community, that we may all be united in
brotherhood and holiness praising you in your church. Amen.
Mrs. Maria Ubiera, Coordinator of the Charismatic Renewal Prayer Group
In 1990, I attended a retreat in the lower chapel of Incarnation. Father Vargas
touched us with his prayers during the consecration. I always recall his words as he
lifted the host and then the chalice and said, “ Look at Him, this is love, praise Him.”
He would keep the host elevated for a long while as well as the chalice. It was
beautiful the way he would say, “where should we go, only you have the words of
eternal life”. I have always heard those words, but the way he said them with such
power, all of us at the retreat, cried tears of joy. His words were so important.

Our Church of the Incarnation is blessed. It needs more attention, especially from
the priests in the parish groups. The presence of the priest is important. I like Msgr.
La Paz’s sermons especially when he celebrates the Mass. He starts with his jokes and
then the lecture part comes. We realize his intelligence in capturing the message. I
asked him permission so that I could record his sermons and he said yes.

Best wish and prayer: For our centennial, I wish the best to Incarnation, may it
always be under the protection of the Almighty. May the Spirit shower many
blessings, that unity prevail, that our church may be sealed with the Blood of
Christ.

Mrs. Amarilis Hidalgo, Asst. Las Hijas de Maria

The Church of the Incarnation has been a blessing for me and for my family these
past thirty years. The Incarnation has brought many favors in my life. I have been
lucky to have been chosen to serve as a Eucharistic Minister, and to serve in the
lovely group of the Hijas de Maria. I am a member of the Sacred Heart group and I
am also a member of the Cursillos de Cristiandad. Above all else these gifts have
been a privilege in my life and I thank God for them. I also thank God for Msgr. La
Paz, a pastor who is dedicated and open to the community.

Prayer: I ask God that through the merits of his Son, Jesus Christ, He may shower
over our dear priests all types of spiritual blessings so that he may continue as
pastor of his people.
Miss Denise Zacarias, President, Juventud Que Progresa (JQP)

On behalf of JQP we would like to wish our Parish of the Incarnation a happy
100 years of service.
May God continue to bless and guide all the leaders of the parish community.
